White Lightning XC!

I am very excited for White Lightning this year! This is our annual XC race on the Canal Loop Trail, and it’s always a good time.

This will be my race directing debut, so I’ve been working very hard alongside Team Wood-N-Wave members to make this event awesome.

White Lightning 2016 is sanctioned under USA Cycling, and will be part of three race series: the Tennessee Bicycle Racing Association, Kentucky Points Series, and Mid-South Mountain Bike Series.

If you’ve been following the event on Facebook, you may have seen that we changed a couple of things regarding the prizes for Cat 2 winners. Instead of merchandise for the winners in all Cat 2 categories (all categories racing 2 laps), we will give 50% cash payout. This will apply to all except the Fat Bike category.

Steve Wilson, our local fattie maniac, has generously donated a cash purse for the winners of the Fat Bike group! First place will receive $150, second place $100, third place $75, and if there are 10 or more participants in the group, we will go 5 deep, with fourth place receiving $50, and 5th place $30.

Cat 1 winners will still receive 100% cash payout, and Cat 3/Junior winners will still receive merchandise.

I have a whole team of volunteers ready to serve in different aspects. This race would not be possible without their help! Make sure to thank them when you come out to the race.
