The Canal Loop

Map of the Loop

The loop is 11.3 miles long. It is 95% singletrack. It has a few hills, a few rocky sections, but mostly fast rolling dirt sections. A average lap time for the race will run around 1:04.

There are a few places in different areas on the trail where we have technical routes. These routes are not illegal shortcuts and will be in play during the race. You ride these at your own caution. If completed successfully they will help you. If not made, you will probably lose more time than it would have taken to just go around. We will have these places marked.

The course will be well marked with signs and directions so that you cannot get lost. Make a note; the trail does cross a road/path in 4 or 5 places. 2 of those will be closed to traffic. In the transition at the North Welcome Station, you will cross the hwy. Be aware of traffic. We will have people there to alert you of the crossing, but be careful.

In the media section, there are videos taken on the trail via a helmet cam. It can be helpful to racers who do not know the trail very well. Look for that!

The loop situated between Grand Rivers and the North Welcome Center, smack dab in between Kentucky Lake and Lake Barkly. Its a very beautiful place with the nature and scenery. Try not to look to hard while you are riding. We don't want any accidents.

We keep the Canal Loop very well kept. You will be pleased with the condition of the trails. Please try and keep it this way. Dont litter or discard trash on it! Thanks.
